Local South Florida bands compete online for the top 4 spots to battle it out at a live show. Our inaugural event at the Kelsey Theater was a big success with sponsors and judges providing prizes to all of the bands. We had more than 30 bands enter, almost 1000 votes and more than 200 attending the live show.
Bands submit a photo, video and basic info online. 20 will be selected and presented for fan voting.
Fans will get to vote on which bands they want to see perform at a live show.
4 bands are selected to compete at the live show based on votes and panel selection.
Bands will compete live in front of hundreds of fans. The audience and judges will select a grand prize winner.
This is a great opportunity for national and local businesses to get their product or service directly in front of active music enthusiasts via website links, social media inclusions, email blasts, posters around town and a presence at the venue.
We're taking the excitement of a live show with multiple bands and using social media and online voting to drive interest, active participation, and brand awareness that will benefit the venue, sponsors, bands and promoter.
SoFlo Battle of the Bands will be a localized, live showcase of 4 bands chosen via Social Media campaigns that will compete for a grand prize. Bands can submit their group online. The top 20 will be posted on the website and social media pages where fans can vote for their favorite. The top four bands will be chosen to perform at the live event based on the fan votes and panel selection.
During the live event, the winning band will be chosen based on crowd response and a panel of judges.
We're planning to have a few more battles in 2017 at venues around South Florida. Stay tuned.
SoFlo Battle of the Bands is being produced and managed by Jodi Gaines Enterprises LLC (JGE).
Band submissions are currently closed for the March 10th show, but will reopen once the next venue is announced. JGE is looking for bands that fit into the Rock / Blues / Funk / Reggae / Alternative / Pop genres that thrive on playing live shows. Covers and originals encouraged. No backing tracks will be allowed at the final show.
Once you've submitted your band, our committee will review submissions and select the top 20 to post for voting.
At our inaugural event on March 10th, the winner(s) of the live show will received 5 hours of studio time and a promotional video from DC Studios in West Palm Beach. The promo video will be a 3-hour, live broadcast style shoot (like television) with the final footage being about 30-40 minutes in length. PLUS, the winning band will get a future booking at the Brewhouse Gallery AND at Lagunita's Taphouse in Charleston, SC. The best part? All of the bands were so good, that we split the prizes, so everyone went home with something. PLUS The Kelsey Theater through in an extra gig.
For any given show, fans will be able to vote for their favorite band by visiting the voting website and simply clicking on their choice. Must be logged into Facebook to vote. The number of votes is limited to one per Facebook user.
JGE is a music production company focused on creating live, community oriented music events that helps promote local artists. JGE was founded by Jodi Gaines, a native Floridian, acoustic guitarist, singer/songwriter and entrepreneur. Although Jodi is relatively new to the music industry as an artist, she is no stranger to social media marketing and software development, a key element in the SoFlo Battle of the Bands concept.
Jodi is the co-founder of ReplyManager, a web-based tool designed to help online sellers manage their incoming customer communications. She served as CEO and blog editor until it's sale to XSellco in 2015. She was also a founding partner of iguanafarmGroup, a product development and engineering company based in Hobe Sound.
